À la folie... pas du tout

What happens when you love a person?

Or rather, when you love a person too much?

Caught this French movie À la folie... pas du tout (He Love Me, He Loves Me Not), it taught me the dangers of:
  • Jumping into conclusion before seeing the other side of the story
  • Loving one (too much) wholeheartedly
Go check the movie out. It's worth it.

No Wonder It Fell in Ranking

Am so irritated by Singapore Changi Airport..

They should update on their website which are e affected shops that are closed for the renovation!

I had arranged for my boss to be terminal 2's starbucks for a meeting.. As I had checked Changi Airport's interactive map and there was nothing specified that it was undergoing renovation, I told my boss n the client that location.

Can you imagine my surprise when my boss texted me and told me that Starbucks is closed for reno?

No wonder the fall to third place for the Wonderful Airport in the World...

Gestures

Love does not simply mean sating that I Love You, or buying expensive things for the ones you love.

Just yesterday and today, I felt loved.

As Sugar's out of office today running fieldwork, and her Ben went for a earlier lunch (cos no gf, no bf, kidding, just that his team was in a team meeting in the morning, hence no bf for him), I went for a late lunch as usual.

Popped by the shop that I frequent and complained to my lady that I felt tired. And she bought me coffee! It tasted nice, and I appreciated her gesture!

And of course, thanks Sugar for buying the bubble tea yesterday, I had enough pearls to make a necklace even after I finished the milk tea…

Full, I felt... And satisfied, and loved...

Company Dinner

Company Dinner was held at Red Dot (at Dempsey) just yesterday. And i got drunk.

Evening was not too bad though,i must say, just that it was a little too warm for me and I look like i just went swimming in certain photos taken -_-...

Can't really remember what I said when i was drunk, but what I remember was that I was screaming vulgarities out of the cab while on the expressway... Feel so sorry for the poor uncle...

Today, bad ****ed-up hangover... The result of drinking too much, too fast.

Bottoms up! =)

True or False?

Somebody told me this: Once you have gone through a relationship whereby you've loved deeply and thoroughly, you would never love that deeply again.

True or false?

I think it's true for me.

End of June

We are nearing the end of June. Which means:
  • Bonus time is here
  • Hectic time is here
  • Audit time is here
  • Time whereby boss ask where my resignation letter is here
  • Resignation time is here (But not mine though, but very soon)
Was online with a friend last night. He mentioned that he might be posted overseas, once the right salary package has been negotiated. When would it be my turn to tell people that?

Love to Touch HD

Being disappointed with SingTel service in retaining their customers (I've been with them for 10+ years), I contracted with StarHub for my mobile line! Not to worry, my mobile number is still the same. And I've got a new phone - HTC Touch HD.

Look… Ain't it pretty? =)

Was initially torn between this and HTC Touch Pro 2, but this beauty won out with it being light despite the lack of a slide out qwerty keyboard. =P

I'm a Hubber! =)

It's official. I'm now a Hubber!

After surviving 3 months without internet access at home, I finally got myself down to the just ended PC Show 2009 and signed up for Mobile Broadband & Mobile Service from StarHub.

But now, I've been sleeping at 12-1 plus in the mornings, due to the fact that I'm spending my time online and online and online… Oh well, pros and cons… -_-'''

Conquering Mt Kinabalu

As mentioned previously, I have been to quite a number of places in the first half of 2009. This was because of the fact that my boss wanted the workers to clear their leave in view of the bad economy.

Just came down from Mount Kinabalu. Place was nice, temperature was great, people I met there, friendly! Climb up and down the mountain? Priceless!

I took 6 hours to climb up to the 'base camp', and another 3 hours up to Low's Peak. But, took 7 hours to head down to the bottom of the mountain. My knees totally gave way, even while walking on flat ground. =(

Although there was white water rafting on the travel itinerary, none of us was able to drag ourselves out of the bed for it. Every step hurt, and I do mean seriously HURT. I only managed to be able to climb up and down the stairs without wincing at the pain 4 days after the climb down.

BUT, I plan on heading up again yearly next year, to do the harder Via Ferrata. And I want to beat my time up the mountain. Call me sadist, but I crave for the challenge. =)

Irritating

Sometimes people just irritate the hell out of me. Examples are as follows:
  • Inability to follow instructions
  • Delivering unclear deliverables
  • Last minute requests
  • Using 'boss' pressure
  • Inability to leave messages see example below:

No number, no time, no indication of who took down the message, how would one know who to clarify with if there are any questions?!?

One word: IRRITATING

I shall have a lengthy post next week to make it all up, yeah? =)

Recommendation Letter?

Saw this, think it's pretty interesting... Imagine getting this kind of reference letter!

Recommendation Letter

Casey ▬▬▬▬▬
▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬
▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬
▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬

John Maloney
President
Tumblr, Inc.
New York, NY

Dear Mr. Maloney,

It is my pleasure to provide this recommendation letter for Christopher Price, his performance working as a Web Developer at ▬▬▬▬▬ proved that he will be an addition to any company.

I have worked with Christopher for five years in my capacity as Director of Web Services for ▬▬▬▬▬. Christopher worked for me on various projects as Web Developer, and based on his work, I would rank him as one of the people named Christopher we have had working for us.

Christopher distinguished himself by consistently working at roughly half his capacity, which fortunately for us is more than enough considering the output of the vast majority of our other employees. His ability to provide adequate, mostly functional web applications at the last possible minute, leaving no time for feedback or changes, was a hallmark of his working style. Christopher is highly intelligent and has good analytical and communication skills, which he frequently utilizes to avoid work, and/or limit the amount of work he has to do. These talents combined resulted in a long, largely uneventful, somewhat productive 15 year run at ▬▬▬▬▬.

In addition to his ability to Google code and copy it, Christopher brought additional skills to the table that you may find of use:
  • One time I asked him for help on some CSS and he was able to provide it
  • We were playing table tennis awhile ago and the ball went off the table in an erratic way to which Christopher responded by nonchalantly kicking the ball back into play without missing a beat
  • Some times Christopher attends meetings, and may even add something to the conversation, although it will most likely be about what he ate last night or his hangover
  • Christopher’s insatiable appetite for the Internet was quite a challenge for us to keep him on task, but I believe if my Google is accurate that your company has something to do with the Internet, so it is possible this may work to your advantage
  • Christopher owns a number of ironic and/or clever t-shirts
  • I believe Christopher runs an Internet blog which he has assured us is quite popular, again this is something that was a problem for us, but may prove valuable to your company, although I must admit I have no idea what a Tumblr, Inc. is
  • When I forget keyboard shortcuts on my Macintosh, Christopher is always no more than an AOL instant message away and within 45 minutes typically responds with helpful information
If his performance in our company is any indication of how he would perform in yours, let me be the first to say good luck, and by good luck I mean that he will certainly be a member of your team.

If I can be of any further assistance, or provide you with any further information, please do not hesitate to contact me.

Yours Sincerely,

Casey ▬▬▬▬▬

Luggage

Working in a place where there is quite a number of tourists, of course there will be shops that sell luggages… I have been seeing this particular design whenever I pass by this particular store.

And as you can see, it comes in 3 sizes and prices as follows:
Small: $250
Medium: $320
Large: $350

I'm considering the medium sided one, but the store is currently out of stock… Haiz... I shall go to the airport and see if they carry it… If yes, I guess I'll get it there... =D

New Trips 2009

Quite some time back I've mentioned about planned trips in 2008/2009.

I am sad to inform that none of the trips turned into reality with the people that I was supposed to go with.

However, there have been new plans! =)

In the span of 3 months, I've been to or will be going to:
  • Genting
  • Cambodia
  • Cruise to Redang
  • Macau
  • Mountain Climbing in Kota Kinabalu
It's all due to the fact that I had to clear 12 days of leave between Mar-May09 (Company's orders)… But of course that doesn't mean that I'll not enjoy myself!

Holidays at end of year… Where should I go?

Grandmother, I Am...

I am glad to announce that I'm a happy 'grandmother'!

My cheesie babay gave birth to 6 pups last night. I hadn't even known that she was pregnant! Alright, maybe I suspected, but it was a nice surprise for me when I got home last night! =)

Look at the happy family:

Chefs Are Good Businessmen

Think you know how to be a successful businessman/businesswoman? Do these apply to you?

1.There is no secret recipe.
Share everything. Chefs share there recipes will everyone, write books, host TV shows. Being open don’t take away any business from them, rather increase their reputation and eventually grow business. Share everything you learned with your present and prospective clients. If only hoarding the ‘trade secret’ can save you, you don’t have a sustainable business to start with.

2.Create an audience, not just a client base.
Chefs create audience, a group of targeted people who are always listening and tuning into chef’s recommendations. In business? Imaging the ‘audience’ of Steve Job’s hour long commercials! Enough said!

3.Presentation matters
No matter how good the food taste like, no one will like a badly presented dish. Presentation matters, in every front of business. Be careful how you present yourself - starting from your name-cards, PowerPoint presentations to website. If you don’t have the required skill, don’t take a chance - hire a professional designer.

4.Repeat yourself
Chefs always repeats the ingredients and the process at least once. Follow that for every presentation or pitch you do. We might be center of owe own universe, but not for others. a quick repetition with highlighting key points is always a good habit.

5.Simplicity Rules
(Good) Chefs never suggest a complex cooking process or a hard to find ingredient. Simplicity is a key success factor. Edit away all the jargons from your sales pitch and business processes. Checkout Startcooking.com, great and simple recipes presented awesomely. In fact you can learn a lot about presentation from Startcooking.com.

6.Try new things
Not all the recipes are success stories. Keep experimenting and keep what works. There are many chefs, running shows and writing cookbooks for more than 10/15 years, still presenting always fresh and new things. Keep re-inventing, re-imagining.

7.Don’t waste peoples time
Good chefs are articulated and precise. They don’t waste time. Be precise and to the point for all your business communications - emails, web page writeup, presentations. People don’t have eternity for stories. Tell them how you are going to make their life better and shut up.

What Men Are Like

For all those men who say, Why buy a cow when you can get milk for free. Here's an update for you: Nowadays, 80% of women are against marriage, WHY? Because women realize it's not worth buying an entire pig just to get a little sausage.

Men are like....

1. Men are like Laxatives. They irritate the crap out of you.

2 Men are like. Bananas. The older they get, the less firm they are.

3. Men are like Weather. Nothing can be done to change them.

4. Men are like Blenders You need One, but you're not quite sure why.

5. Men are like Chocolate Bars ... Sweet, smooth, & they usually head right for your hips.

6. Men are like Commercials .. You can't believe a word they say.

7. Men are like Department Stores .... Their clothes are always 1/2 off!

8. Men are like ... Government Bonds .... They take soooooooo long to mature.

9. Men are like .. Mascara . They usually run at the first sign of emotion.

10. Men are like Popcorn .. They satisfy you, but only for a little while.

11. Men are like Snowstorms .. You never know when they're coming, how many inches you'll get or how long it will last.

12. Men are like Lava Lamps .. Fun to look at, but not very bright.

13. Men are like Parking Spots All the good ones are taken, the rest are handicapped.

Color Analysis

I just did a Color Analysis, and here's the result:

You are the sort of person that needs a peaceful environment. You seek release from stress and freedom from conflicts and disagreements, of which you seem to have had more than your fair share. But you are taking pains to control the situation by proceeding cautiously and you are right in doing so as you are a very sensitive person.

You seem to lack the energy of late to get up and go. Your objectives appear to be unattainable and no one seems to care. You feel lost, neglected and need some W.T.C. (Warm tender care).

Matters are not progressing as well as you would have hoped and you are having to make concessions - but you still believe that your goals are realistic it's just that people can't seem to see your point of view. You know what you want but you'll only accept suggestions under duress.

The stress and tension that you are experiencing at this time is perhaps due to your inability to achieve security and appreciation from those closest to you. This is resulting in considerable pressures. You find the situation as it stands most frustrating. You are the sort of person that would like to experience all and everything very intensely but unfortunately you are not receiving the warmth and understanding that you feel you are entitled to. Matters are not going too well. You seek a sympathetic ear but it is not forthcoming. This situation is extremely nerve-racking - and what is more humiliating is that no-one seems to care and you are powerless to do anything about it.

You are inclined to be too trusting and you feel that you need to be on your guard against the possibility that your endeavours and actions may be misunderstood. Too often you have been taken advantage of and you have been mentally abused. Now you are seeking a relationship which can provide peace of mind, where you can be yourself and not have the need to put on a false front.

Poker Face

I think it's cos of that fact that I broke my 'vow' to not play any more overnighter mahjong except during chalets, and that's why I lost to Kaisheng.

Hmmm… Anyway, caught this video while playing the last overnight MJ: Poker Face by Lady Gaga.

Found this video from Daily Motion, whose videos are of a much better quality than Youtube's! =) But, video after downloading can't be played on any of the players… Damn.

Mahjong

One of my loves would be mahjong…

However, I think I should swear off mahjong for the moment.

I have been losing $100+ these few mahjong sessions EACH, to my dear friend Kaisheng.

Damnit...

Exaggerating

Sometimes I really find some after so exaggerating.

Look at this Mary France Bodyline online promo.

If a short and round person can go into the shop and come out tall and slim, I sure won't mind being short and round so that I can get taller! =P

Movie Buff

You know that you have not been watching movies very frequently when:
  • The movie that you saw as 'Coming Soon' came and went without you realizing
  • You do not know of any movies that the screening at the theatre at the moment

  • Ong Bak 2
  • Igor
  • Meet Dave
  • The Duchess
And now, I'm waiting for them to be sent to me in order for me to watch them…

I can safely say that I'm a movie junkie, just that it's DVD movies!

Baby Rhyme

There is a rhyme about which day that you are born would kind of influence your temperaments.

Mondays child is fair of face,
Tuesdays child is full of grace,

Wednesdays child is full of woe,

Thursdays child has far to go,

Fridays child is loving and giving,

Saturdays child works hard for his living,

And the child that is born on the Sabbath day

Is bonny and blithe, and good and gay.

I'm a Wednesday baby, and I kind of agree with the statement. Hmmm... Lolz!

30 Minutes

Heard this song in my ipod, like it pretty much… 30 minutes by t.A.T.u, a German girl duo.

30 minutes can just simply change anything. Good or bad, up to you to decide.

They are HOT. This photo of them looks good, but some other photos look better. Go Google! =) I prefer the brunette though...

PS: I'm not the only one who kisses girls! =P

The pool of shit that was drained is coming back....

How Jealous Are You?

Jealousy Level: 65%

You are a jealous person but you try not to let it show

You often get very jealous of others but you are successful at controlling your emotions publicly. When you feel that other people are winning things that you deserve, you get very upset, but you won't hurt anybody else by making a scene. Your jealousy is private. You might, for example, cry yourself to sleep at night when you get really jealous of someone.

Personality Test

Took yet another personality test, and here is the analysis:

  1. You've got great self-confidence and you're full of charm. Most guys who get to know you will be attracted to you. You are far from sweet and proper; your intriguing personality fascinates them. Most guys find it easy to fall for a girl like you.

  2. You don't really care about other people's feelings. You do things the way you want and usually think only about yourself. You are easy-going and love to have fun, but you can be irresponsible as well. You are not keen on serious discussions because they can make you remember that life isn't always about parties.

  3. You are a bright, cheerful and bubbly person. You are thoughtful and considerate, and like to have fun. Everybody feels comfortable around you because of your pleasant nature. When you walk into a room, people's eyes are likely to be drawn to you because of your charm.

  4. Your peers think of you as a fun person, but sometimes you can be a little irresponsible. You can be somewhat childish, and can try to ignore the fact that you will one day need to really grow up and be a mature adult! Perhaps you could start reading good books; they might help you look at the world in a different light. You do want to be taken seriously, right?

  5. Your boyfriend believes that you are a strong and independent person. Your confidence and cheerfulness make you an attractive person to be around, but sometimes you need to pay more attention to what other people, including your boyfriend, are thinking.

Pests

Colleague called me while I'm on way back home, informing that there has been a termite infestation and asked me on the course of action. Said that the termites were eating into a box of surveys that were kept under the desk and asked what should be done with the box of surveys.

When questioned as to why the said box was not in the storage room, colleague tried to cover up and said that boxes has been kept under the table all the time. At 8pm+, am SMS was sent asking me to get the pest controller down asap to salvage the situation.

8pm+!!

You think I don’t have to liaise with the landlord etc? Or do you think I live and breathe office matters 24/7? You think termite control companies would be operating at that time?

In that case, I wonder: If a blockhead has termites infestation, would he/she become smarter due to the tunnels that termites build in his/her head?

What if...

Being on leave, I was out with a girlfriend today.

I was so tempted to spend on a pair of sports shoes and a coat yesterday, but I managed to resist the temptation. Not for long though, as I would be buying the items, just a matter of time… Lolz!

Was approached by one of the ladies (foreign talent) at those pushcarts that was selling items made from the sea (skincare/nail items) who happened to have very nice eyelashes and eyes. =)

After the product demonstration and NON-purchase, while heading towards the bus stop with our buses, I wondered aloud: What would it be of I was born in western countries like the States and England? Would I be promiscuous? Would I do drugs? Would I go for Asian men or Caucasians? Would I be more independent?

Questions worth thinking of… =)

Going Through Hell

Going through hell? Here's how to cope...

But the good news
Is there's angels everywhere out on the street
Holding out a hand to pull you back up on your feet
The one's that you've been dragging for so long
You're on your knees
You might as well be praying
Guess what I'm saying

If your going through hell
Keep on going, don't slow down
If you're scared don't show it
You might get out
Before the devil even knows you're there

Yeah, If you're going through hell
Keep on moving, face that fire
Walk right through it
You might get out
Before the devil even knows you're there

Me

I've grown lazy.

I've not been exercising for at least 6 months.

I've not been doing anything to upgrade myself. (At least it has been true before Mar09).

I miss badminton.

I miss doing nothing except lazing about for the whole day with no worries about things happening in the company.

I miss me.

Nature Walk

Saw the following pictures from a blog.

Checked out more about the Pulau Semakau Intertidal Walks, which are held by the Raffles Museam of Biodiversity Research from NUS, I would say that it looks pretty interesting!

Cost wise, it'll be $53.50 per adult, while $40.60 for child aged between 7-18.

I'm interested to go for the walk… Anybody wish to go with me? =)

Honesty (Write Me A List)

What are the traits that you look for in another person, or traits that you should never lose?

Take a look at the video, think about it… =)

"Honesty (Write Me A List)" By Rodney Atkins

Honesty, sincerity, tenderness and trust
A little less time for the rest of the world
And more for the two of us
Kisses each mornin' I love you's at night
Just like it used to be
The way life was when you were in love with me

Live, Love, Laugh

Saw this on my former course mate (Nona)'s blog. Found it meaningful, so here goes:

LIVE - Stop a moment. Look around. Reflect. Appreciate the present. Look forward to an exciting future. Take risks. Enjoy life. Learn to live easy and think easy. We humans complicate life too much at times. Just LIVE.

LOVE - A simple act of love is what it takes to make the world a better place. Telling your mum you love her, despite her endless nagging and complaining. Telling your friends you love them, despite them not being there all the time when you need them. Telling your partner you love them, despite the ocassional arguments and heartaches. When we learn how to love, we become better people. Just LOVE.

LAUGH - Laugh at yourself if you need to. Being too hard on yourself only leads to more negativity. Don't ponder too much on your mistakes or life's mishaps. Do not blame it on anyone or anything. Things happen. Move on. It takes lesser energy to be merry than to be grumpy. Just LAUGH.

99 Notifications

I almost couldn’t believe what I saw on the notifications tab when I logged into Facebook this morning. This!

OMG, I couldn't believe it… But, the majority of the notifications were due to the face that people are tagging my photos, photos of Ellery Birthday Bash, which was great fun, by the way. =) See below:

Valentines 2009

Valentines 2009 was a fun experience. Caught Breakout, which was so hilarious and full of hunks with great bodies and sexy babes!

Followed by dinner at naïve™, the cafe that my darling conceptualized the design. Food was good, furniture was interesting, and the artwork (drawn by a SINGULAR artist who works as an illustrator), absolutely fabulous.

It's facing Katong Complex. just look for the building which is painted green and has the red banner that says 'We Are Open'.

Neon Chalet Feb09

Neon had its chalet at Aloha Loyang Garden Terrace's Jasmine room over the past weekend.

I was part of the organizing committee, or rather, I was the reservoir whereby funds where used first to make purchases, do bookings etc.

Anyway, a total of 14 people turned up for the first night of the chalet, whereby we had steamboat, bbq (which didn't really kick off as we were all inside, leaving nobody to take care of the fire) as well as lou hei-ed, which was a messy affair…

Second day was for open for all. Actually both days were open for all, but then again, might as well have a day meant for just Neon. After all, it's the NEON chalet, not (insert name)'s chalet. Lol!

Lester and Fredrick came on my side, whereas an officer came down from Kaisheng's side, making the total attendance for that night 7 people. What I can safely say is that it was a good crowd, whereby there was no awkward lull in conversations.

Played mahjong till the next day, where Fredrick won $150 from Yisheng. Being a good sport, he helped in sponsoring part of the chalet costs by subsidizing another $80 on top of the $10 attendance fee for attendees on the second day.

Thanks to the 3 who made the chalet a fun place to be at:
  • Kaisheng: Who painstakingly prepared the ALL food. He even made the stock for the steamboat on the first night from scratch!
  • Fredrick: One of the major contributors of the chalet. He also contributed to the fact that I ended up wearing Lester's shirt for the night! *scandalous thoughts*
  • Han: The overall in charge. From seeking people who could help us book the venue at a cheaper rate, to being the point of contact, as well as the PR person that night, and well as the debt collector for that night.

My Precious

My precious is lost!! My precious, my precious….

I'm sure for those who caught Lord of the Ring, you would remember Gollum.

I lost my precious too…. My Canon Ixus 860. Haiz.

To keep the long story short, it was a great night of fun - the people, music and drinks. Cam whore the whole night. Approximately 300 photos taken of the 4 of us. Realized that camera was not on any of us when we were about to leave.

To summarize: DAMN.

Silver lining in the dark dark cloud: The loss only happened at the end of our night.

Dark dark cloud: We worry about the loss of both the photos and camera, taking away the magic of the fun night. =(

Conclusion: MUST strap my future camera on myself, and maybe engrave it with my name and number? Lolz…

Oh well, in case the worst thing happened, I'm looking at replacement cameras… Either the same model again, or Ixus 870 (Gold)?

卡门

I absolutely love old stuff! Be it old movies, music or men… Lol! =P

Anyway, heard this song while passing through a video store the other time round. And this song struck me… One of my favorite Mandarin old song while I was growing up (when the tv was still those big bulky types).

Although many modern singers have sung this song, I still prefer this version the best.

I got it! Finally... And in my favorite color! =)

Finally, some motivation to get my ass moving to run, and shape my ass up! =)

Doesn't the packaging look just so nice? I love it! =)

25 Things

I have been tagged in Facebook to do the following:

Rules: Once you've been tagged, you are supposed to write a note with 25 random things, facts, habits, or goals about you. At the end, choose 25 people to be tagged. You have to tag the person who tagged you. If I tagged you, it's because I want to know more about you.

1. I love to eat chicken. Be it KFC, Mac, BBQ chicken, normal chicken rice etc etc etc. Ditto for fish. Not fried fish though, except for nasi lemak.

2. I can't draw. Or rather, my drawings are real simple, like a lower secondary school kid. But I do know how to appreciate art. =)

3. I only give nicknames to those people that I feel a deeper connection with.

4. I love to do handicraft: Pop-ups, Origami, Cross stitch etc. And I have like almost all the cross stitch books of Precious Moments!

5. I like to be alone, to find myself before it goes missing in this chaotic world.

6. I don't mind dying. I just want to die peacefully, and hopefully, when I'm young, so that I'll look nice in my obituary picture.

7. I like being sick. It's the time where I get to sleep as much as possible and people can't say anything.

8. I don't have my own room. I sleep in my parents bed.

9. My dad and mum were very trendy when they were young. I have photos to prove it!

10. I love walking, and taking public transport.

11. I love confident and sincere people.

12. I don't usually ask for others opinions after I decided on something. Hey, my choice is made, ok?

13. I used to be immune to pain, and loved to fight. But that was when I was still a color belt in Taekwondo.

14. I drink Vitagen in the morning and milk at night.

15. I have quite a collection of soft toys that are in zip lock bags and stored in the cupboards, but the one that is along my side all the time is the teddy bear that I received when I was 12.

16. I try to keep clear of soft drinks as well as cold drinks.

17. I rent movies from Hollywood.com and rip them to place in my ipod.

18. I love Vienetta ice cream and the ice cream that those uncle sell in those carts that come around to the neighborhood.

19. 3 things that I will not miss out when I go to chalets: Alcohol, Mahjong, BBQ Stingray.

20. My mum only cook once a year - Reunion Dinner. So of course, I miss home cooked food.

21. I had hoped to move out of my house since I started working. But I'm still here.

22. I love thunderstorms. The wilder they are, the better. And of course, it has to be at night.

23. I used to hang out at arcades on Saturdays when I was in primary school, after church.

24. Oh yes, I used to go to church.

25. My myopia has dropped from 3.30 to 1.75. Think It might be due to the fact that I seldom wear glasses and eat a lot of fish.

Ripe Old Age?

Have you ever wondered how old you would live until?

NLB has set my mind at ease... Apparently I'm supposed to live till the year of 2999! Lolz... Actually that is what I saw when I log in to see my account status & pay my fines on their page! =P

Shared Laughter

What is more dangerous than shared laughter? Laughter is more powerful than all the kisses in the world. You could keep from falling in love with a man whose only attraction was a feeling of sexual interest, but how could you not fall in love with a man who make you laugh? Laughing with a man made you dream of a life with a man who could see the bright side of life, a man who would smile when the going got worse.

I read this from the book The Invitation, written by Jude Deveraux.

Isn't this just simply true?

Phone Etiquette

You know, I do think that people need to be taught what is phone etiquette. Some people think that talking loudly (I'm guilty cos I've got a loud voice) means that the other party can hear clearly (not of this though), whereas some think that just because the other party has a mobile phone, the person is contactable 24/7.

I've called companies whereby the person who answered the phone as if it was his personal line, making me ask if I did get the company directly. This also happened in my company. There has also been cold calls made to our company whereby the caller was so ultra soft that I had to maximize the volume over on my side while asking her to speak up.

I'm sure you have you pet peeves of what people do to piss you off, at least on the phone side, be it the land line, or mobile phone.

There shall be a post dedicated to the etiquette that people should follow, once I've complied a list of what are the do and don'ts that work... At least for me!

Crazy Shopping

Know what they say about the difference between men and women when it comes to shopping? See comic below:

I lived up to the theory the just the other day... Lol! Headed down to Vivo with just 3 items in mind to purchase, but I purchased the following items instead, which set me back a total of approx 1 whooping thousand! Lol...

Crazy huh? But I absolutely love my purchases, especially the natural pearl necklance! =)

Sick Sick Cow...

What happens when you eat 1.5 packets of nuggets, 2/3 of Vienetta ice cream, topped with 3 glasses of wine over a period of 3 consecutive days?

You fall sick! That's what happens… and most unfortunately, that's what happened to me too…

I'm now a sick sick cow, welcoming the year of the Ox… Lol!

Love Matters

I've got to admit that I've been watching movies on a fairly regular basis recently. Not that I'm becoming a full time movie-goer (given the fact that I still rent DVDs), some movies are just worth it to catch in the cinema, such as Australia, and Ong Bak 2, Ip Man etc…

Singapore's Jack Neo's new movie for 2009 Chinese New Year looks good. Titled Love Matters, it looks like a local movie that I might finally be willing to plonk my money to head over to the cinema to watch, but of course at a reduced price of $6.50. (I sound like I'm so unwilling to support homegrown movies, but then again, they normally get shown on Channel 8 fairly fast!) Lol…

Anyway, here's the trailer for the movie. The last part about Henry Thia making a sentence with colors is so hilarious!

Prawning

I must have been living under a rock all this time... It was only when I went prawning that I knew that prawns have pincers (see insert photo)

2 people, 1 rod, 2 hours, 1 prawn... Even the uncle fishing in the next pond had to give us 3 of his prawns as he felt sorry for us! Lolz!

But, I must hao lian (be boastful) and say that the prawn that I (immediately after my friend handed the rod over) caught was the biggest, and the most fighting spirit, as it was still flipping when my friend got it home! =)

Interference

Interference has a number of definitions.
  1. To interpose in a way that hinders or impedes : come into collision or be in opposition
  2. To strike one foot against the opposite foot or ankle in walking or running —used especially of horses
  3. To enter into or take a part in the concerns of others
  4. To act reciprocally so as to augment, diminish, or otherwise affect one another —used of waves
What would you do if you realize that someone has been interfering in your life? For example,
  • Logging into your email account to see whatever mails that you receive,
  • Logging into your msn in order to chat with your friends to find out what you've been out to
  • Contacting your friends list on the popular networking sites (like Friendster, Facebook etc) to limit your social activities
Should anyone does any of the above to me, that's it. I would not care if I know the person for a long time, a short time or even if he/she is my best friend's sibling or best friend.

Cos simply put, the person has an integrity problem.

My life is my own. I may accommodate to requests, but that doesn't mean that the requests will rule my life. If I don't interfere with yours, why should you interfere with mine?

Action Talk?

Talk is cheap. I'm sure you've heard this saying before.

I will remember what has been said before, be it in anger, jest or in a normal conversation. But whenever actions contradict whatever that has been said, it sure makes one go hmmm.

For example, if you say that spending money on certain things is not worth it when the money can be spent on other items and yet you purchase that particular item more than once, does it mean that you've changed your opinion? Or does it simply mean that your words are so worthless that they can be changed every now and then?

So does your action support what you claim?

It's Over!

It's Over!

Ushering the new year, for the year of 2009 means spring cleaning, aka Out with the Bad, in with the Good. Cos usually people will keep the good! Lolz...

Toxic

No, I'm not referring to the song by Britney Spears... This phrase struck me while I was reflecting back on 2008.

Knew of friends who are in Toxic relationships, jobs, etc etc etc. Therefore, I did a little research and got this, and I quote (or rather, copied and pasted):

Dr. Lillian Glass, author of "Toxic People", describes a toxic person as “anyone who manages to drag you down, make you feel angry, worn out, deflated, belittled or confused.” It may be difficult for people to admit they are in a toxic/abusive relationship, because they are intelligent, self-sufficient individuals in other aspects of their lives. Most people in toxic relationships, however, have the sense that something is just not right.

25 Ways to Tell if Your Relationship is Toxic:

1. Your partner puts you down verbally, in private or in front of others.

2. Your partner tells you he/she loves you but behavior shows otherwise.

3. Your partner doesn’t want you to see or talk to friends or family.

4. Your partner is jealous of the time you spend with your kids.

5. Your partner shows up often at your work unexpectedly or opens your mail.

6. Your partner calls you often to see what you are doing.

7. You cry often or feel depressed over your relationship.

8. Your partner says you would have the perfect relationship if only you would change.

9. Your partner wants you to be dependent on him.

10. Your partner does things for you and then uses them to make you feel obligated.

11. Your thoughts, opinions, accomplishments, or words are devalued.

12. You don’t know who you are anymore without him/her, or how you would survive.

13. Your friends/family don’t like your partner or don’t think he is good for you.

14. You have changed things about yourself to suit your partner, even when it is not your taste.

15. You always go where your partner wants to, like movies, restaurants, etc.

16. Your partner has made you feel afraid or unsafe, and you have been afraid to speak the truth at times for fear of upsetting him/her (walking on eggshells).

17. You don’t feel you have control of your life anymore.

18. Your self-esteem is lower since you’ve been with your partner.

19. You think it’s up to you to make the relationship work.

20. You keep secrets about your relationship from others who love you because they wouldn’t understand.

21. Your partner makes you feel unattractive or stupid.

22. Your partner accuses you of cheating and is overly jealous.

23. Your partner can be really sweet to you one minute, and really mean the next.

24. Your partner seems really sweet/loving to you when he/she thinks you are about to leave the relationship, or after he/she has been mean to you.

25. You can’t remember the last time you felt happy for more than a few days straight.

Heart Like A Wheel

Here's Heart Like A Wheel, sung by The Corrs.

Some say the heart is just like a wheel
When you bend it you can't mend it
And my love for you is like a sinking ship
My heart is on that ship out in mid-ocean

They say that death is a tragedy
It comes once and then it's over
But my one only wish is for that deep dark abyss
For what's the use of living with no true lover

And it's only love and it's only love
That can break a human being
and turn him inside out
That can break a human being
and turn him inside out

When harm is done no love can be won
I know it happens frequently
What I can't understand please
God hold my hand
Is why it should have happened to me

And it's only love and it's only love
That can break a human being
and turn him inside out
That can break a human being
and turn him inside out

Some say the heart is just like a wheel
When you bend it you can't mend it
And my love for you is like a sinking ship
My heart is on that ship out on mid-ocean
And it's only love and it's only love
And it's only love it is only love
And it's only love it is only love
And it's only love it is only love

To Keep the Bubbly Bubbly...

I didn't know that to keep a champagne bubbly, all you have to do is to put a tea spoon into the bottle!

Maybe I should try it the next time I open a bottle of champagne!

But the question would then be: To insert the spoon upon opening of the bottle of champagne? Or when I've decided to keep it?

Leave Me Alone

I am not a typical girl, who will blabber out everything just because of the fact that she is feeling unhappy.

You know that I am one who has to put a strong front, while the reason behind it you do not know. I will tell you when I feel like telling you. The more you want to pry it out of me, the more I will not say.

The more you tell me to do something, the more I will not do. I may take into account everything that has been said and done to date, and analyze them. Like what you have said before, Females are Emotional.

So when you piss me off, leave me alone. I will look for you when I feel like it. Do not call me to explain, rationalize etc etc etc.

Thanks.

There's A Fine Fine Line

I caught Avenue Q when it showed in town, same as my boss and lady boss (not together of course). =P

Lady Boss bought the soundtrack, which meant that I get to have a copy of the songs on it too.

Their songs are hilarious, but the following song is able to express my feelings at this moment very well. I will try to post the music track up when I find the time to do so...

There's A Fine Fine Line

Kate Monster:
There's a fine, fine line between a lover and a friend;
There's a fine, fine line between reality and pretend;
And you never know 'til you reach the top if it was worth the uphill climb.

There's a fine, fine line between love
And a waste of time.

There's a fine
, fine line between a fairy tale and a lie;
And there's a fine, fine line between "You're wonderful" and "Goodbye."
I guess if someone doesn't love you back it isn't such a crime,
But there's a fine, fine line between love
And a waste of your time.

And I don't have the time to waste on you anymore.
I don't think that you even know what you're looking for.
For my own sanity, I've got to close the door
And walk away...
Oh...

There's a fine, fine line between together and not
And there's a fine, fine line between what you wanted and what you got.
You gotta go after the things you want while you're still in your prime...

There's a fine, fine line between love
And a waste of time.

Happy 21st Birthday, Darling!

Xiang's 21st birthday! Actually it was yesterday, but hey, it's the thought that counts, right?

Met at Vivo's Bakerzin, whereby we saw this booklet with all their available cakes… We ended up looking at the booklet and salivating over it instead of looking at the menu and deciding on what we SHOULD be having. Doesn't the booklet look good?

We whacked a total bill of over $100, which made 4 ladies very satisfied with ourselves and of course the food. Fun and laughter, cam whoring session started after our stomachs have been satisfied. Actually, it started when we met, but the camera only made its appearance after we have devoured the food. When does it end? NEVER! =)

Love you darling, Welcome to the legal adulthood!

XOXO,
Connie

Required versus Optional

You know, I really don’t understand why is it that people do not know what is the difference between Required and Optional.

Take for example, when there is a meeting that A, B & C is supposed to attend. Of course, that would mean that all 3 of them are to be under the Required tab when one is sending a calendar event via Microsoft Outlook.

And when there is a meeting whereby A & B are required to attend, and optional for C, that would mean that A & B would have to be under the Required tab while C would have to be under the Optional tab, right (as it is not compulsory for him to attend the meeting)?

Point to note, there is not an option of FYI (For Your Information) tab under the recipient field. Only 3 are available - Required, Optional & Resources. See below:

So, with all the above information, what do you think should be under the Required tab when one is on leave?

I find it very funny that the staff in my company would happily put their bosses or the email that tracks staff movements under the Required tab, while placing the teammates that they are working with under the Optional tab.

So does it mean that when that particular staff is on leave, the boss is required to be on leave too?

This brings me back to an entry that I've blogged about before. Does it mean that the person does not obey instructions? Or do they simply DON’T UNDERSTAND them?

Thursday, November 20, 2008

I Wonder

I really don’t understand the following:
  • Why some people will simply tend to ignore instructions,
  • Leave a mess around or rendering a machine unusable unless a professional comes to take a look at it without informing the person in charge,
  • Use the last or last few items and not bothering to inform the person in charge of the low level in supplies,
  • Not checking the physical aspects of the machine that they are using and kick a big fuss over something that can be easily settled with the change of a switch (and of course, insisting that that particular switch was on when questioned),
  • Trying to hide behind a higher authority,
  • Having double standards,
  • Not checking with a manual/guidebook/person in charge when doing that particular item,
  • Calling for help with a problem previously encountered and making it sound like it’s the end of the world (without applying what was advised the first time round).
  • Trying to appear that one knows what is to be done but like I said, TRYING (when the person is not the one in charge of the item, although obviously trying to be helpful)
  • And so on and so forth, but these are the matters that are bugging me at the moment.
Of course, I'm not going to say that don't do things that are specified above, obviously I'm guilty of that, as and when. But sometimes there is just that when these items happen very frequently, it just irks the hell out of me, especially when it was not the first time that it happened, with reminders being sent out and all.

If help is called for every time a slight problem occurs and the help desk personnel have to be physically there all the time, then there will be a need for a cloning and combining machine! Cos like they say, It never rain but pours!

Take a Bow

Yes, I love fun, going out and plain old having fun.

Do not like sharing inner thoughts and feelings easily. Want to know me better? It's not something that is done in hours, days or even weeks of meeting anybody, or AnyBody or ANYBODY.

I am not a machine whereby you press a button and I'll spill everything out. Press a button? System will overload, and might not respond to Alt + Ctrl + Delete.

Overstress it? It'll breakdown and there would be a need to reformat it.

Take it, or leave it.

I love the song Take a Bow, performed by Rihanna.

It's not the lyrics that apply to me, of course. But the way whereby it was sung, having those sounds that she was able to carry out, like those exasperated Please, self directed resigned laughter and sighs.

She sounds like being resigned to fate that that has to happen, after seeing through it all.

Sometimes I feel the same way, but then again, showing those emotions in front of others would only prompt questions that does not help as decisions may already have been made.

Shit Makes Me See

I'm overworked, definitely, judging by the fact that I've been in office from 0900h-2300h (minimum), since 01Oct08.

Yes, I had to work on Public Holidays and weekends... =( All because of poor management. By me, of my staff, of my staff, on their stuff. Lolz! Sounds fun right?

Anyway, bottom line is that I have to be the one clearing up the shit that just happens to flow down. And of course, it being shit, it's not really a pleasant task.

Having to source for part-timers, tapping on resources, getting the part-timers to stay on and complete the project, it is not an easy task. One would be able to see how motivated another being is , be it a personal target, monetary returns or just simply to do a friend/colleague a favor.

For those who have helped me in any way, I just want to say a big THANK YOU.

Well, now I've learnt my lesson. I'll keep a close eye on this potential shit pool, while trying my best to turn it into hopefully, a swimming pool? Lolz! =)

PS: Late nights, stressful times have rendered me with flu. =( I WANNA TAKE MC!! But I can't~ (at least not now)...

PPS: Thank God that this will end on Wednesday. After which the shit pool would be slightly smaller? Lolz! =)
