Dark Eye-ringed Bee?

Another weekend of great fun and lack of sleep!

Not that I'm complaining, but that means that I've got cut down my weekday socializing, for at least 2 weeks in order to rest and look well rested!

Friday, attended an Emerald hill group event: Absolutely Black held at Dbl O with Rayson. Saw a lot of old old friends there, friends that are active in the night entertainment scene (that sounds so sleazy), had total fun! Best thing is, I was home slightly after midnight! I can't believe it! =P

Saturday, Michelle's Party! Headed back to Dbl O again, drank and danced the night away. Evidence? See what happened to my boots:

I guess that if we'd been there longer I'll be shorter? Cos I would have danced my legs away! =D

Sunday: Kaisheng's birthday! And know what, he sent a formal invitation over! I think he got it printed at the printers, u know? Together with a map, shuttle bus directions on how to get over there.

Of course, being a chalet, and one of the fellow gamblers, we mahjong-ed till wee hours in the morning. With only 1 hour of sleep, I headed back to office. Can't believe that I survived Monday. =P

What we got him as a present? Portable mahjong set! Comes complete with a ‘table’ and tile support (just like Scrabble)! Very nice, so much so that it makes me want to get a set for myself too!

Spells, Anyone?

I am so hooked onto this song! Mercy By Duffy

Especially this part of the song:

I don't know what this is
but you got me good
just like you knew you would

I don't know what you do
but you do it well
I'm under your spell

Spellcaster, I absolutely love!

Give me someone that would make me 茶不思饭不想!

Fantastic Weekend!

How was your weekend?

Mine was fantastic! A totally carefree weekend, no stress, no worries, no inhibitions!

On Sat, met up with Darling to go shopping at Far East. Just 3 shops, and the damage done was simply great! A total loot of 1 coat, 3 shoes, 2 tops, 5 dresses caused my wallet to be lighter by the hundreds! =) Thank goodness I did not shop during the GSS period, otherwise, 后果不堪设想 .

We followed up with a trip down to the National Arts Museum as there were performances there as part of the Night Festival 2008. As the National Arts Museum was open during the period of time, and free entry, I might like to add, we headed in, took lotsa pictures as possible. Or rather, as many pictures as my camera batt could support. =P Too bad I did not charge up the battery before leaving the place, hence the battery did not last THAT long.

Here're some of the items from the Museum that were on display (pictures taken by Darling):

What we saw at the Night Festival:

Caught an open air screening of Charlie and the Chocolate Factory. It was the classic version, not the one that was acted by Johnny Depp. Each version has its own merits, but what I simply love about this is it's atmosphere! =) Watching old films with fun loving people, in a open air cinema whereby they would have to change the film reels.

After which, there was a play of lights on the building. Here's one of them. To see more, visit:

On Sunday, was supposed to be down for the Nationals Competition weigh-in at National Training Centre at 2pm. Met Luke to pick Val at her place, during the journey which Luke was reminded that the verification documentations for some of our fighters were still with him.

In short, taxi uncle drove us from: Bedok - Telok Kurau - Bedok - Whampo (Val & myself only had to pay $4.50 each!) haha.. =P

As there was no training that evening, met up with Del. Went to the Seventh Storey Hotel @ Bugis just to simply look at the man-operated lift! It's so damn cool, and the uncle is so friendly and cute! =P Chilled out at Intercontinental Hotel, followed by 2 movies (Art of the Devil 3 & X-Files: I Want to Believe) and Zouk!

3 things I did that I've never before so far that I've lived: Going to a Hotel just to look at a particular feature (it had usually been food or drinks), 2 consecutive movies in the Cinemas on a weekend, as well as Zouking on a Sunday night! Just for Paul Van Dyke, who spins good! =) I can believe that I stayed till 3am, but I can't believe that I did get up in time for work, and am still at normal energy level!

If only every weekend is like that… *dreams*

ABBA Mia!

I was out with a friend just the other day, and we happened to be talking about musicals etc.

And just yesterday, Mich was asking if there's any new upcoming musicals coming up ever since we caught We Will Rock You (which did totally rock btw) quite some time back.

Of course, I went over to Sistic website and saw… ABBA MIA! =)

Oldies rulez~ Had wanted to get the restricted view tics which were actually not really totally restricted (yeah, we tend to save wherever possible), but unfortunately, they were sold out for Circle 1. Decided then to go for Category 2 tic. We were lucky to get 2 seats in Circle 1. Here're our seats:

With only 3 shows being performed, it would be a pretty great thing to watch ya?

Ask! for God's Sake!

I am irritated. Oh God, yes! I'm absolutely Irritated!

Instead of hiding behind your manager's pants, why not just come out and ask for the reasoning for what I'm asking to be done?

Would you rather people return things back to you in their original condition or slightly modified?

If you're telling me slightly modified which would make my life better, I'd say Thank You and mean it.

But if you're going to give it to me in a manner whereby I can get things done but with MUCH inconvenience, of course I would ask for you to return it back to me in the original condition!

And if you don't understand why, just ASK!

And if you don't understand after explanation, save the both of us from much unhappiness and simply move the damn thing! It does make things much easier!

Revamped Downtown East

Have you been to the revamped Downtown East?

I was there, the very evening that Daniel had his wedding solemnization. (Yes, I know, twice a day!)

Skipped training, went dinner with Francis. I think we're both pretty sua-ku, as we seem to be both very astonished by the changes that were there!

Here're 2 of the changes, can you guess what they are?

Yes, a in-door Cadbury Ferris Wheel and the entrance to the bowling alley (which looks like a time zone)!

If only the Ferris wheel is, just like the commercial, made up of chocolate...

wouldn't it be nice if the world was Cadbury?
wouldn't it be nice?

And here we are, travelling through time... =P

Do you fight for what you want? Or are you those Anything can do kinda of person?

To fight or not to fight? If fight, how much should you fight for?

The Ultimate Mambo Jambo Dance-Off @ Zouk

Totally low, that's my energy level now.

Went for Zouk/StarHub/Sony Ericson's Mambo Jumbo Dance off last night, and I totally enjoyed myself!

Was there with my fav clubbing partner Michelle, who brought along Yupei, who's a bubbly, and totally adorable girl. In fact, she reminds me of JC!

I know that I have not been to Zouk on a Wednesday night for a long while when I asked Mich to go to the Citibank free entry queue as I was only able to sign in 1 guest. Thinking back, I cant believe that I asked her to go queue for free entry on a Wednesday night, which is also Ladies Night! OMG!

Anyway, we were lucky that we were there pretty early, as the entrance to Zouk was very packed once the dance off started (I think sardines in a tin has more space than them). Songs that were played, got me wanting to move along with it. Of course, the host, Hossan Leong was very entertaining as usual, engaging the crowd and making everything oh so lively.

Interesting to see the 5 different groups to pit their skills against each other, and I must say, the winner does deserve to win! Their dance moves, I like... haha! =) And the winning group, whose name IS quite a mouthful, has such cute guys! =P

I'm sure there will be a video uploaded somewhere for this. I'll post a link once I get it! =)

Oh yes, I collected my new Zouk membership. I prefer the previous version though, whereas both Mich and Yupei prefer the newer version.

I can't wait for the end of July/early August, for Mich's birthday celebration! Let's go drink, drank, and be drunk! Whoot!

Alphabet Soup?

One would think that PAP, being the leading party in Singapore politics, would have enough moolah to upkeep its premises.

Unfortunately, that is not what I've seen, and what you are going to see:

Hmmm.. Did the educators try to make alphabet soup with the missing letters?

Yet to be Fulfilled Holidays - For 2008/09

I'm going on Holidays! Whoot!

Lets see:
Jul08-Batam
Dec08-Langkawi (I can't wait for this!)
Apr09-Macau (I can't wait for this either!)

Why so many holidays?

Batam: A friend who wants a short getaway, the sand, sea and the sun. Prices wise, not too sure, as we have yet to book anything. But one thing's for sure, we'll be heading out of Singapore 19/20Jul! Total Damage: S$XYZ?

Langkawi: I saw a promo on its website, a sea village package for 3D2N that costs only RM1,100! and 3rd person only pays RM180! That translates to 3D2N for 3pax on a water village lagoon with a private balcony to be only RM1,280 (S$178/pax at a exchange rate of 2.4)! Cheap cheap! Furthermore, Airtics from KL to Langkawi approx S$100 both ways. So all we have to do is to find bus to KL! Total Damage (if bus to KL costs s$50): S$320!

Macau: Airasia has a promo (or rather, had, since the promo was only valid till 06Jul08), whereby flights from JB, KL to Macau were only going at RM$5! After taxes and everything, S$150! another cheap cheap deal! And what we have to do is just simply to travel to JB to get such a good deal! Hotel wise, not settled yet though, cos there're no hotels that can give any indication of their pricing for half a year later! =P Total Damage (excluding Hotel & Coach/Bus to JB): S$150!

Anyway, I still have got the following places that I want to go:
  • Desaru <- to go with Batam friend
  • Phuket/Bintan <- To go with yet another friend
  • Genting <- And yet another friend (minimum, just that I have yet to find a gambler like me to go with) =(
  • To be decided <- Friends cum ex-colleagues, to be decided on both when and where! haha! =P

Anybody want to bring me to anywhere else?

1st July 2008

First July... Officially the first day of the new financial year, the day/week whereby one will see a lot of resignation letters...

First thing my boss asked when he saw me this morning: "Where's your letter?"

"You want my letter, I'll give it to you."

"No need to serve notice period also can, go immediately."

Wow... What a rare opportunity! But unfortunately, my sense of responsibility compels me to stay (as if)! Haha! =P

Anyway, met up with 3 ex colleagues for K-ing on Sunday in the Chinatown area (which meant that I went back to office, yes I did). Here're the photos that showed how much fun we had, even though we were given a room right at the back of the kitchen! (Which translates to a very small room, by the way...) =P

Take 1...

As normal as can be....

As sparstic as can be....

As adorable as can be....

As sad as can be....
As foolish as can be...

Reason?

What makes one decide to do the things he or she does?

People around her? Surroundings around her? The things that are being said around her? The work that she is doing?

It's the time of the year, whereby I am busy again... Oh yes, third time that I'm doing this, getting ready the company's accounting items in place for the auditor.

Closing of the financial year, appraisals being done, bonuses being given out, people tendering (oh yes, trust me, definitely).

I had once had the same thinking, to say ciao to the company once I've gotten my first bonus. Subsequently, giving myself more excuses to linger around more - to get non-prorated bonus, can't leave the company as when the financial year is closing etc etc etc.

This year? My goal? Running out of excuses, thinking whether it's time to move on... But then again, to ditch the company now, I can't really bear to do so. It's not because of my colleagues, not because of responsibility, but then again, it might be.

Financial wise, yes, it has been a motivating factor. Boss, another deciding factor. Work that is being piled on me, yet another factor. Responsibility, definitely.

I wonder, what would make me go : Argh, screw it all. Boss, I wanna go. Quite a number of times I had wanted to say that, but did not say it in the end. Getting out of the rough patch that I was going through, thanks to those who know better that to pry, but still concerned enough for me.

What then, is the PUSH to make people go? Or the PULL for people to stay?

Wedding!

Dear friend Daniel invited me for his wedding solemnization yesterday at Aranda Country Club.

Was supposed to be there with a date, got changed to another date, and finally settled with my final date: Michelle.

It was a small and cozy event, total of 7 tables (which translated to 70 pax), but think only about 60 people were able to make it, as there was a empty table at the back.

The setting was great, ambiance was fantastic, and the solemnization, absolutely fantastic! I kept grinning from ear to ear, as if I'm the one getting married! haha! =P

Anyway, here're the photos, limited quantity though, photos taken were pretty blur... =( And we 自拍-ed a lot! haha! =P

A Life of Lies or a Lie of a Life?

What if you are living a life that is in fact, a lie?

What if the life you are living is being dictated by others?

Have you ever felt that your life is filled with people who have their roles to play but you are not aware of your role to play (or do know know that you are required to play a role)?

This is what happens in The Truman Show, starring Jim Carrey.

I totally love this show! If you can, go and watch it! Here's a trailer for the show:

I've Been Watching You

I've been watching you...

How much did you watch your parents while growing up? How much did you learn from them?

Found this song composed and sung by Rodney Atkins, Watching You, inspired by his son.

Present!

Got myself a new present! But just in case I forget when I bought it (and the expiry of the warranty), here's a gentle reminder for myself! haha! =)

Yes, I know I bought 1TB, which is a lot of memory, which some servers can't even be compared to! haha... But given the way I've got all my barang-barangs, and the fact that I have totally no wish to squeeze with the crowd at a IT fair, I think it would just do... haha! =P

Unfortunately, I've gotta head down to get my qad's birthday present, so it'll be time for human squeeze again! =S

Rain, Rain, Rain

I'm now bloggin in a cool, very cool weather.

In the midst of a thunderstorm, which does not have much lightning and thunder, just lots and lots of rain and wind.

I miss this kind of weather, Singapore has not have much of this kind of weather anymore, heavy heavy rain, strong strong wind, and most important, me being home to enjoy the cool, cool weather.

Not only being indoors to enjoy the cool weather brought on by the wind, I also miss being in the rain. The feeling of running through the rain, trying not to get oneself drenched by the rain, while having fun. This, I have yet to experience for a long time. Mainly it's due to the fact that I'd have some form of electronics on myself, be it my ipod or phone.

Rain always makes me feel good, cleansed, lazy... Haha!

Just like the song, 'raindrops Keep Falling' on My Head', absolutely fantastic!

Strong winds, steady sound, cooling weather, I ABSOLUTELY LOVE THUNDERSTORMS!

Theory to Live By...

Was at my training yesterday, and something my coach mentioned left a deep impression on me:

Me: Once a guy gets what he wants from a female, that's it already.
Coach: No, when chasing a lady, one must be oneself. He should treat the lady well when she's his girlfriend, and even better when she's his wife.

Reasoning?

When chasing a lady, she may not be your girlfriend. Just be yourself, and if she's yours, she's yours.

When she decides to include you in her life, one should be appreciative and cherish it.

When it is her whole life that is being shared, why not take it as if you are taking care of your own life?

Neopets, anyone?

Do you play Neopets?

Yes, I do! I was addicted to it while I was in Secondary School, but now I only play the Neopets Stockmarket.

If only I can make the kind of money I made on their stockmarket in the real world, then I'll be a millionaire!

My goal for playing the game now? To have a million neopoints as interest everyday! =)

My Heart Aches...

I was given winning numbers for 2 days of 4-D by one of my vendors, and I did not purchase them! SHIT! Winning numbers in RED:

If I had, given my gambling habits, I would have made $4.5k! ($4k from the Top Prize, and $500 from the Starter Prize!).

This would be able to see me through the GSS, meals, transport and entertainment for at least 3 months!

Argh! *Cluches Heart and faints* haha! =)

BEWARE!

Saw this interesting drawing done by some kids at a pre school in my neighbourhood:

So does it mean that the kids should not be aware of strangers? Or that they should only be aware of people with kids?

Then in that case, how would one know? Hmmm...

Workplace Friendships

Photo taken CNY 2007... Seems so long ago that I was so carefree and happy, not that I'm not now, just that more stress and more dislikes...

I miss the time when I first joined my current company, before all things happened.

Friends and foes, I've had both. But I'm glad I've met them both, in a SME, which would be much more better compared to a MNC.

Is the economy good, or what?

I find it very interesting, the way the government goes about saying that the economy is going down, prices are going up, and people still dont want to work!

In a company that hires part time staff, some of the people who called to enquire would just give that kind of not interested tone of voice when they heard about the rates. It is not as if the rates are not good or otherwise, but you expect a high paying part-time job doing nothing? If there is such a good deal, please do keep me informed! I would LOVE to so that too!

Anyway, I do hope that recession would kick in soon. Then people would just wake up and take note of their bearings!

Small Project?

My company is currently having a minor reno going on. Here's what the reno consist of:
  1. Demolition of 2 partitions, as well as sanding of the floor where the partitions rested to make the floor look nicer, more even
  2. Erection of 3 partitions - 1 glass, 1 to seal a doorway, 1 to extend a existing storage area
  3. Rewiring works for the affected partitions

This renovation works, undertaken by Eagle Design Pte Ltd, has been underway for 3 whole weeks, and according to him and the other contractors who gave their quotations, they told me that the works would take 2 weeks. Now he's telling me that it'll only be finished next week, which would take the whole reno works 4 weeks for a timeline that should only be 2 weeks, and the works ar not yet completed as of date!

Here's the parts of reno works that happened:

  1. Partition works was supposed to start on 29Mar08 at 1230h. I had my carpenter arranged to arrive at that time as cupboards were supposed to shifted too. Carpenters came at the appointed time, contractor did not turn up. Ok, I allowed the carpenter to do his items first. Called the contractor at 1330h, he said, wait a while more, they will be here shortly. Called again at 1530h, he said, they're stuck on the other site, they'll be there later. Called again at 1700h, he said: Can I get my people down on Monday morning instead? When I heard that, I was fuming mad, and I told them no, you said that you're to be here at 1230h, and now you tell me that you can only come the next morning! (The carpenters have already finished their work at 1500h, and I've waited for them for 2 freaking hours! They arrived at 1730h and took down the partitions ONLY. They said that they'll erect the partitions first thing in the morning on Monday. At least the guy who was demolishing was kind enough to help me to silicon a window still, which was allowing water to seep into the office.
  2. Monday - 31Mar08. No signs of the contractor staff. Called, said they're stuck at another ground.
  3. Tuesday - 1Apr08. Ditto for this day.
  4. Wednesday - 2Apr08. Finally! The man doing the erection of partition works is here! and errected the partition boards. Finished plastering and left. Door of extended storage area left there.
  5. 03Apr08-14Apr08: Reno works were at a standstill. Called Mr Tan, who said: They'll be there later! Later! Later! Later!
  6. 15Apr08 - His Later, finally came. Today, his man doing finally came and did the concealment of the wires, at least part of it, as well as placing the door in the storage area. Funny thing, they shaved the door, and now the door can't catch. Can't shut properly. He said that he will get another of his staff to take measurements for the glass partition tomorrow. We shall see about that, shall we?

He made a very interesting remark today: Your's is just a small project. If your's is a big project, I'd have completed it long ago.

So if you take 4 weeks to complete a small project like mine, would I dare to entrust you with the reno works of my company should I shift office?

Snide remarks, be careful!

I just find it interesting at times... The things that people say when they think that the subject can't hear them.

The things might just be a simple thing of saying it softly under the breath, or saying it loudly when the subject has headphones on.

I just encountered one such incident today. One of my colleagues, who has a very loud voice, was commenting on how he could customize printing on cue cards. As you know, one is able to do a page setup onto the final dimensions in Microsoft Word so as to print on different different sized items. Well, this guy, he would just think about getting labels printed and stuck onto the cue cards, when the cue cards are blank and white in color, which would mean that printing on them is possible.

Then, he wondered how to get it done, and made a very loud remark: "I should consult my IT administrator on how to do it... But then again (turns to look at yours truly), I think better not." Laughs out loud.

OH well , for gods sake, if you want to make such a snide remark, you can either ensure that the subject is not around. Otherwise, do say it at a lower volume!

That's one thing. Being in an office doesn't mean that you are able to talk and laugh at the top of your voice all the time! Even most of the time would turn people off! Others who are concentrating on their work would not be able to do so.

I bet my entire month salary (Full & part time) that u're just a piece of loud blowing, empty horn, which explains why you're able to blow so loud, by the way.

Look Mum, see what the cat dragged in!

Saw this interesting scene while on my way to training, couldn't help it but to snap the following pictures:

It's not often that you see something like this, the very most that i've seen is a cat 'battling' with a cockroach!

I must admit, I did a double take when I first saw it!

Look Mum, see what the cat dragged in!
